Abstract
856,193. Making commutators. BOSCH G.m.b.H., R. Nov. 21, 1958 [Nov. 23, 1957], No. 37464/58. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XXXV] Segments 11 of a moulded 'commutator are keyed to the moulded material by means of longitudinal claw-like ribs 20 extending along the inner edges of each segment and bent towards each other. A copper bar 15 of appropriate length is first impressed by means of a suitable press tool with transverse channels 17 with central grooves 19 for preventing axial movement of the segments. Then the ridges 18 formed between the channels are split except for bridges 25 by a cutting tool which is so profiled as to bend the ribs towards each other. The bridges 25 are machined off after moulding in the usual way.
