Abstract

855,659. Electric heating. RADIO HEATERS Ltd. April 15, 1958 [Jan. 21, 1957], No. 2151/57. Class 39(3). [Also in Group VIII] In a method of welding a strip of thermoplastic material to a thin sheet of thermoplastic material to form a bead or moulding, the strip is placed in a groove in a first electrode of a dielectric heating apparatus, the thermoplastic sheet is placed between the first electrode and the second electrode and the electrodes are brought together to hold the strip and sheet together under pressure while they are subjected to dielectric heating. One of the electrodes may be formed with an outer edge which projects beyond the plane of the electrode to weaken the sheet so as to form a tear-away edge.
