A glass bending mould comprising a plurality of mould sections including a movably mounted section and a support therefor is provided with adjustable means for adjustably connecting the movable section to its support to selectively alter the closing speed of the mould. Adjustable hinge means are also provided between the movable section and its adjacent section to compensate for the adjustable connecting means. The mould 14 comprises a centre section 15 and end sections 16 joined by hinges 17, each end section 16 being mounted on a pivot bar 18 supported by a link 19 on a pin 20 fixed by brackets 13 to frame supports 12 joined at each end to upstanding members 11. As shown in Figs. 2, 3, the rails 24 of end sections 16 are secured to the bar 18 by clamping blocks 26, each block 26 comprising flat rods 27 secured to the rail 24 to which is secured a member 28 having an elongated slot 29 through which the rod 18 passes and a series of grooves 30 on the outer face and in a pair of which a pin 31 passing through the rod 18 is positioned, a keeper plate 32 being screwed into the member 28 to clamp the rod 18. In a modification, not shown, the member 28 is replaced by an L- shaped plate, the vertical face of which has separate holes through which the rod 18 may pass and the other face has threaded holes opposite thereto for screw bolts to engage and hold the rod 18. As shown in Fig. 7, the clamping block 55 comprises flat rods 56 secured to rails 24 and a cross-bar 57 has arcuate notches 58 in the lower surface against one of which the rod 18 is held by a clamping bar 59 screwed to the rods 56. As shown in Figs. 2, 3, each rail 24 is hinged to the centre section rail 22 by a pin 34 passing through a projecting eye 35 on rail 22 lying between the bifurcations of a clevis 34 secured to rail 24 and stop means 37 and 44 are provided for limiting the opening and closing of the mould respectively, each stop comprising an adjustable bolt 41, 47 on the rail 22 to be engaged by abutment surfaces 51, 52 on the rail 24. Additional support to the glass in the open position is given by support fingers 53 secured to the bolt plate 50 on the clevis 36 and a locator bar 54 extends upwardly adjacent the hinge from the centre rail 22. A slightly modified hinge and stop means are also shown.
