Abstract
855,425. Television. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. July 2, 1957 [July 2, 1956], No. 20914/57. Class 40(3). [Also in Group XL(a)] A circuit for scanning an electroluminescent panel (see Group XL(a)) comprising electroluminescent cells 18 having rectifier layers 16 and interconnected by crossed conductors 100, 102, 104-200, 202, 204- is provided with gates 300, 400, 302, 402, 304, 404 for the vertical conductors 100, 102, 104 normally applying a voltage -V to the cells 18 but when operated applying a voltage +V together with the video signal 24 to the cells and gates 500, 600, 502, 602, 504, 604 for the horizontal conductors 200, 202, 204 normally applying a back biasing voltage 4-A to the cells 18 but when operated applying a voltage -V thereto. The gates are individually controlled by counters 32, 48 which are operated by the incoming synchronizing pulses, the operation of counter 32 being such as to change over all the pairs of gates 300, 400 &c. in sequence between successive pulses and that of the counter 48 being such as to operate the pairs of gates 500, 600 &c. in turn at each pulse, the gates remaining operated until the arrival of the next pulse.
