854,116. Brazing. BENDIX CORPORATION, [formerly BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION]. Sept. 23,1958 [Oct. 1, 1957], No. 30390/58. Class 83 (4). [Also in. Groups XXVIII and XXXVI] A flexible conduit consisting of a corrugated metal tube 12 and a braided metal sheath 14 is secured to an annular fitting 24 by means of an inner sleeve 20 having an outwardly-directed flange 21, and an outer sleeve 17, the sleeve 20 being bonded to the tube 12 and sheath 14 by fused metal and the sleeve 17 being bonded to the flange 21 and the fitting 24 by fused metal. The tube 12 is preferably cut as shown, the outer half convolution and first inner convolution being then filled with brazing metal which is heated to bond the inner sleeve to the tube and sheath. The outer sleeve 17, flange 21 and fitting 24 are bonded by gas-shielded!arc welding at 25. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 5, not shown) the inner sleeve 20 is integral with the fitting 24, a face of the latter acting as the flange. The corrugated tube may be of stainless steel &c., the outer sheath of braided nickel or stainless steel, a suitable brazing material being comminuted nickel base alloy mixed with acryloid resin and toluene in the proportions of 1 to 7, or with glycerine and alcohol. The heating means may be a shielded arc device. Specification 854,117 is referred to.
