Abstract

The invention comprises the 1:1 molar adduct of p 5-nitro-2-furfuraldehyde with 2-oxazolidone ; the preparation thereof by treating the nitro-furfuraldehyde with 2-oxazolidone in aqueous solution ; the preparation of derivatives of 5-nitro-2-furfuraldehyde by treating the above adduct with a carbonyl derivatizing agent, in particular semicarbazide, 1-amino-hydantoin or 3-amino-2-oxazolidone.
