Abstract

Flexible polypropylene of low crystallinity is prepared by polymerizing propylene in solution in perchloro-ethylene. o-dichlorobenzene or monochlorobenzene in the presence of a catalyst formed by reacting a halide or oxyhydrocarbon of a Group IVa, Va or VIa metal with a hydrogen or hydrocarbon compound of an alkali or alkaline earth metal or Al, each component being employed in less than 0,05 moles per litre of solvent, and then precipitating the polymer obtained by the addition of methanol, ethanol or acetone.
