Abstract
The invention comprises prednisolone 21-semi-sulphate and its salts with physiologically acceptable inorganic or organic bases, and the preparation thereof by reacting prednisolone with a reagent to form the 21-semi-sulphate and, if desired, reacting the product with the required base. The 21-semi-sulphate may be prepared by reacting prednisolone with the pyridine-sulphur trioxide adduct. Organic salts which may be formed are triethyl-ammonium, tetramethylammonium and choline salts. In the example the above 21-semi-sulphate is prepared and is converted into the sodium salt thereof.
