Abstract

[Also in Group XXVIII] A filter unit (see Group XXVIII) located in a line between a supply of compressed air or oxygen and a breathing mask (not shown) is clipped to the belt of the operator and includes a manually' operable flow control valve 15, 19, Fig. 5 having an inlet and outlet coupling 17, 26 and passages 18, 24 leading to and from the inlet and outlet ends of the filter cartridge 7, Fig. 4 which is located in a rubber housing 1 having a valve body receiving portion 2. The valve may be used independently of the filter by sliding it from its housing 2 after unscrewing the face mask hose coupling 26 from passage 24 and then screwing it into passage 18 ; the supply hose being left reconnected to coupling 17.
