Abstract
849,444. Cathode-ray oscilloscopes. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. Aug. 29, 1957 [Aug. 13, 1956], No. 24706/56. Class 40(7). For measuring the time duration of recurrent waveforms a time calibrator comprises a plurality of delay lines in cascade each line having an associated pulse generator for feeding input pulses into the line and tapping points spaced at predetermined intervals therealong with a switch for selecting a tapping point to derive an output pulse which triggers the pulse generator for the succeeding line, Figs. I and 2 (neither shown), the pulse generator of the first line is triggered at the repetition rate of the waveform being measured and the output of the time calibrator is displayed simultaneously with the waveform. The delay lines may have unused sections at their beginnings and ends. In the embodiment an input J of the same recurrence rate as the examined waveform produces sawtooth K applied to strobing circuits 21, 22 each adjustable to produce output pulses L, M respectively. Pulses L are applied to time calibrator 23 and pulses M to trigger cathode-ray tube time base 24.
