Abstract
The invention comprises metal¦salts of: <FORM:0849410/IV(b)/1> wherein R is a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon residue or an optionally chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbon residue, x is 2 or 3 and y is 0, 1, 2 or 3. The compounds are prepared by reacting one mole of a dicarboxylic acid: HOOC,R,COOH, or an anhydride, monoalcohol ester or halide thereof, with at least two moles of a polyamine of the formula: H2N(CH2)x-[NH(CH2)x]y-NH2 treating the resulting diamide: H2N - [(CH2)xNH]y-NHCO,R,CONH-(CH2) x-[NH(CH2)x]y-NH2, preferably after dilution with water, with carbon disulphide and an aqueous alkali, and converting the alkali salts formed into other metal salts. Preferred salts are those of Na, Zn, Cu, Fe or Mn. Specified dicarboxylic reactants are oxalic, glutaric, succinic, adipic, pimelic, sebacic, fumaric, maleic, phthalic and tetrachlorophthalic acids.ALSO:A fungicidal composition comprises a metal salt of a bis-dithiocarbamate of the formula: <FORM:0849410/VI/1> wherein R is a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical or an optionally chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbon radical, together with a carrier, wetting agent, emulsifying agent, solvent, other fungicide and/or insecticide. Specified salt-forming metals are Na, Zn, Cu, Fe or Mn. Carriers specified are cell-pitch powder, kaolin and chalk powder. Further fungicides specified are metal salts of ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamic acid and the trichloromethylsulphenyl derivative of tetrahydrophthalimide (Captan). Insecticides specified are 2-benzene hexachloride and 1:1:1-trichloro-2:2-bis-(para-chlorophenyl) ethane.
