Abstract

847,241. Light sensitive diazotype materials. OZALID CO. Ltd., and PARRY, E. Feb. 24, 1958 [Nov. 22, 1956], No. 35710/56. Class 98(2) A support whereof films, foils or metal are mentioned but only polyethylene terephthalate exemplified, is treated to provide it with extended surface area as by sand blasting or scratch brushing, and then coated with a composition comprising a copolymer of styrene and maleic acid in admixture with, or prior to the application of, a light sensitive compostion. With the extended surface area adequate adhesion of the composition to the support is achieved without the use of elevated temperatures. Two examples detail two-component diazotype sensitising compositions for the purpose, the first using a mixed organic solvent together with the copolymer and the second an aqueous isopropanolic solvent for application on top of the copolymer coated support.
