Abstract

Coating compositions comprise 2 to 6% by weight of a resinous terpolymer consisting of 50 to 88% by weight of n-butyl methacrylate units, 10 to 40% by weight of methyl methacrylate units and 2 to 10% by weight of methacrylic acid units, 15 to 25% of acetone, 70 to 85% of isopropyl alcohol and 0,01 to 0,60% of chromic chloride, the ratio of said terpolymer to chromic chloride being 9:1 to 199:1. The compositions may be coated on oriented polystyrene film base as subbing layer and used in the production of photographic elements.
