Soldered seamed joints.-A metallic box section is characterized in that the longitudinal lips or edges of the strip from which it is formed have been interconnected by simultaneously hooking together, i.e. by flanging or crimping, and soldering by means of a continuous solder or band interconnecting the facing surfaces of the lips of the hooked joint. In an embodiment a zinc-coated steel strip 1 is rolled to form a box section as shown in Fig. 1 having edges 1a, 1b which are shaped to form a hooked joint. When forming over the edge 1b a solder wire 2 is introduced between the edges and the jointing is effected by rolls 3 and 4 which also act as heating electrodes. The solder may be supplied in the form of a ribbon, paste or powder or the edges of the steel strip are coated with solder.
