<PICT:0846040/III/1> <PICT:0846040/III/2> <PICT:0846040/III/3> Collapsible tubes T, Fig. 1, to be internally spray-lacquered or coated, are delivered in succession in lateral arrangement down a shoot 1 to two or more parallel troughs 8, 9 arranged to rock from horizontal to vertical position to deliver the tubes into spaced holding devices 19, 191 in a rotating disc 17, during the travel of which they are sprayed internally. After spraying the tubes are lifted from the holders 19, Fig. 4, and tilted laterally into a delivery shoot 37. The shoot 1, Fig. 1, is furnished with a stop 2 which is lowered by cam mechanism 5, 6, to deliver the required number of tubes. The troughs 8, 9, are carried by levers 10, 11, which are rocked to vertical position (shown dotted) about a shaft 12 by a cam-actuated rack 14 engaging a pinion on the shaft. The lever 11 engages splines on the shaft and during its rotation is moved outwardly against a spring 26, to bring the trough 9 into alignment with the holder 19, by a cam 24 connected through a lever 23 with a rod in a hollow part of the shaft. Premature fall of the tubes is prevented by a part cylindrical stop concentric with the shaft 12. The delivery device for each pair of lacquered tubes comprises a cam-actuated plate 30 which raises the tubes out of the holders 19 into engagement at their upper ends with pivoted sleeves 32 by which they are tilted, by pneumatic or other mechanism 39, over a lip 42 and into the shoot 37. An alternative supply device comprises a pair of spring tensioned conveyer belts 42, 43, Fig. 8, or a single belt, driven continuously by a belt 60 and pulleys 58, 59, and provided with side and top rails 61, 62, 64, 65. The tubes T delivered to the troughs 8, 9, are guided during the rocking movement and into the holders 19 by plates 64, 65, 68, and compressed air nozzles 66, 67. The apparatus may be furnished with photoelectrically operated stop motions, such as 69, on the delivery shoot or belt and on the disc 17.
