Class 44 A catch device 13 for releasably locking one end of a movable bar or rod 12 to a second bar &c. 10 comprises a spring-loaded sleevelike element 14 adapted to be slidably mounted on the end of the bar 12, the element 14 having, e.g. formed integrally therewith, two projecting fingers 18, 19 which are adapted to embrace the bar 10 when the element 14 is in its projected position. As shown in Fig. 2 the element 14, which may be limited as to the extent of its .projection, is provided with a pin 15 for engaging a corresponding aperture in the bar 10. The bars 10, 12 may form part of fencing employed for penning animals, the bar 12 being hinged so that it may be swung away from its normal position when the catch device 13 is depressed and so disengaged from the bar 10.
