Abstract

Polyamide type resins are prepared by heating boleko oil, or a fatty acid obtained by hydrolysis thereof, or an ester (other than boleko oil) of such fatty acid with a mono-or polyhydric alcohol, with an aliphatic polyamine containing at least two primary amino groups or at least one primary and one secondary amino group. As acids obtained by hydrolysis of boleko oil are mentioned isanic acid (octadeca-17-ene-9,11-di-yn-oic acid) and a mixture of isanic acid and isanolic acid (octadeca-14-ene-10,12-di-yn-oic acid) and as esters of such acids is specified a mixture of the methyl esters of the above acids. Polyamines specified are ethylene, propylene and hexamethylene diamines, diethylene and dipropylene triamines, triethylene tetramine, tetraethylene pentamine, bis-[3-amino-n-propyl]-ether and bis-[3-amino-n-propyl]-glycol ether. The resinous products serve as hardening agents for epoxy resins and as plasticizers for phenol resins or other heat hardenable resins.ALSO:Boleko oil, or a fatty acid obtained therefrom by hydrolysis, or an ester (other than boleko oil) of such a fatty acid with a monoor polyhydric alcohol, is reacted by heating with an aliphatic polyamine containing at least two primary amino groups or at least one primary and one secondary amino group. The products obtained are resins of the polyamide type. Specified acids obtained by hydrolysis of boleko oil are isanic acid (octadeca-17-ene-9,11-di-yn-oic acid) and a mixture of isanic acid and isanolic acid (octadeca-14-ene-10,12-di-yn-oic acid). As esters of such acids is mentioned a mixture of the methyl esters of the above acids. Polyamines specified are ethylene, propylene and hexamethylene diamines, diethylene and dipropylene triamines, triethylene tetramine, tetraethylene pentamine, bis-(3-amino-n-propyl)-ether and bis-(3-amino-n-propyl)-glycol ether.
