Abstract

Tin surfaces, e.g. tin-plate, are coated with the di-(2-ethyl-hexyl) ester of phthalic or hexahydrophthalic acid or a mixture thereof, as an oxidation inhibitor and lubricant. The coating may be applied by electrostatic spraying or by dipping in an aqueous emulsion of the ester.
