Abstract

843,931. Table lighters. SHARMA, D. N. Aug. 1, 1956 [May 2, 1955], No. 12614/55. Class 75(3) A table lighter comprises a self-contained lighter unit which is carried by and may be removable from a stand adjustably mounted on a universal joint. Any form of lighter unit may be used, Fig. 1, showing a flint and wheel type lighter 14 mounted in a recess in a stand shaped to resemble an aeroplane and caused by a universal joint 30 mounted on a base 10 the lighter being removable and held in place by spring-pressed balls 12. A small roughened recess 13 may be provided to facilate removal. The lighter may also be mounted in inverted position. The nose 5, 6 of the model aeroplane may accommodate lighter spares. The base may be formed with a hollow space to accommodate a drawer housing a musical movement or a radio or for use as an ash tray or to hold liquid or cigarettes or to accommodate the batteries for a lighter operating on butane gas or for an electric lighter. In a modification, the lighter 102, Fig. 12, is carried in a rocket shaped stand the lower part of which may be translucent and enclose a socket for an electric lamp controlled by a switch 116. A flint and wheel lighter may also be mounted in the top half of the model rocket in inverted position, the wick tube then extending the full length of the lighter so that fuel leakage is prevented.
