Abstract

The invention comprises 1,1,2-trifluoroethylfluorosulphonate which may be prepared by reacting trifluoroethylene with fluorosulphonic acid and separating the desired product from the reaction mixture, e.g. by fractional distillation. Reaction temperatures may vary from 0 DEG C. to 100 DEG C., room temperature being preferred. The product is useful as a fumigant.ALSO:Flour and like foodstuffs are fumigated by treatment with 1,1,2-trifluroethylfluorosulphonate (for preparation see Group IV(b)). In a test, an upright tube filled with flour in which black carpet beetles and confused flour beetles were buried at varying depths was placed in an air space containing 0,25 pounds of fumigant per 1000 cu. ft. of air space.
