Abstract
841,560. Bridged-T filter networks. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 7, 1956 [Sept. 21, 1955], No. 26921/55. Class 40(8). A bridged-T filter circuit has a resistance in one arm the tolerance of which exceeds the accuracy required to achieve a desired rejection characteristic, a variable reactor being connected in this arm to enable the circuit to be adjusted to obtain the desired characteristic. In known bridged-T rejector circuits (Fig. 2) a resistor R 2 is incorporated in the shunt arm to increase the Q of the circuit by compensating the losses in L, and 2C3. According to the invention, a resistor R 2 having a tolerance of e.g. 20% may be used and exact compensation achieved by adjustment of an inductor L 3 (or a capacitor) in the shunt arm. Slight readjustment of one of elements of the tuned circuit is also required. The resistor and inductor of the shunt arm may be combined in a single component. The invention may be applied to bridged-T circuits of the form shown in Fig. 3. In a modification of this circuit capacitance C 3 is fixed and the tapping on L, is variable. The invention may be applied to bridged T-circuits having series arms which are resistive.
