Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0840877/IV(b)/1> (wherein R represents a saturated or unsaturated (linear or branched chain or cyclic) aliphatic hydrocarbon radical or a five-membered heterocyclic radical, either of which may contain one of the substituents halogeno, hydroxy or lower (C1-3) alkyl, alkoxy, acyloxy or alkylmercapto) and their acid addition salts, and the manufacture thereof by acylating 1:2-diisopropylhydrazine, or an acid addition salt thereof, with an acylating agent containing as the effective acylating group the group R-CO, hydrolysing any acyloxy substituent in the radical R of the product if desired, and, if required, converting the hydrazide into an acid addition salt thereof. The products are monoamine oxidase inhibitors and stimulate the central nervous system, and may be used in psychotherapy for relief of disturbed or depressed states, and for increasing weight in cases of cachexia.
