Abstract

Class 72 A trolley for a converter which is blown with an oxidizing gas from a lance mounted on the trolley comprises an exhaust' pipe connection one end of which, during blowing, is connected to the mouth of the converter and the other end is connected to a chimney. As shown, a lance 4 is slidably and pivotally mounted on a trolley 14 and projects through an exhaust pipe connection 18, also mounted on the trolley, in such a manner that it may enter the mouth of a converter when the latter is turned down. In the operating position one end of the exhaust pipe connection connects with the mouth of the converter and the other enters a funnel 19 on the end of a chimney 20. A shield 37 on the trolley protects the operator and the control gear while the trolley is being moved into position and both the lance and the exhaust pipe connection may be water cooled.
