Class 146(1) In a rotary card index of the kind in which index cards are arranged in radial manner upon a rotary spindle or drum so that they may be moved past a viewing station situated above the spindle, a pair of fixed annular rails is arranged concentrically with the spindle or drum, each rail having a gap at its uppermost position to permit the removal of index cards mounted on the rails by a radial movement of such cards through the gaps. As applied to a rotary card index as described in Specification 824,210, index cards 29 are mounted on guide rails 26 provided with gaps 28, each card being placed in the pockets formed by the side walls of the folded cards. The cards 29 have slots 30 for engagement with the rails 26.
