Abstract

838,278. Making commutators. BOSCH G.m.b.H., R. Oct. 24, 1958 [Oct. 26, 1957], No. 34095/58. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XXXV] The inner hub surface of a moulded commutator consists of a perforated metal sheet 18 rolled into a cylinder, the abutting edges 20, 21 being secured by lugs 24, 25 pressed out of one edge and overlapping the other, the union being secured by welding, preferably spot welding. Preferably, so that the lugs will not project over the periphery of the tube, both edges have complementary lugs 24, 25 and 28, 29 respectively engaging in pressed-out recesses in the other edge as shown. The lugs and recesses are each of a thickness equal to half the thickness of the sheet 18, and are formed by pressing the metal out of the recess to form the lug.
