Abstract

837,040. Fluid delivery installations. MULLER, J. Aug. 26, 1957 [Nov. 9, 1956], No. 26845/57. Class 99(2). A delivery installation for fluids or granular particles comprising a remote control device combined with a flexible pipe 1 has one or more pipes or electrical conductors 19 arranged freely and in a fluid-tight manner in the pipe 1. The pipe 1 is provided at its free end with a connector 2 to which is fitted a delivery nozzle 3 with a cutoff valve 4, the other end being fixed at 5 to the hub 6 of a horizontal winding reel 7 mounted on a vertical spindle 8. A central aperture 9 in the spindle communicates at one end with the pipe 1 and at the other end to a feed pipe 10. The remote control device is of the hydraulic type and is formed by a lever 11 rigid with a pinion 12 engaging a rack 13 on a piston 14 which moves in a cylinder 15 in the connector 2. A spring 16 urges the piston 14 and lever 11 to the rest position as shown where a port 17 interconnects the pipes 1, 19. The cylinder 15 is connected to the flexible pipe 19 and leads at 20 into the hub 6 of the drum 7 for connection to a hydraulic ram 21 wherein a piston 23 connects to a collar 25 of a sliding member 26 which is limited in movement by a pin 28. A valve 29 is opened when the sliding member is in its lower position and permits the operation of a motor 33 by fluid pressure, a pinion 34 of the motor engaging a toothed ring 35 rigid on the reel 7. When the lever 11 is at rest the flexible pipe may be unwound from the reel so as to bring the nozzle 3 to the site of delivery. When the lever is turned in the direction of the arrow F the fluid contained in the cylinder 15 is compressed and delivered towards the ram 21 causing the member 26 to fall and thus operate motor 33 which rotates the reel 7 and winds in the pipe 1. Return of lever 11 to the rest position immediately stops rotation of the drum and permits complete or partial reeling of the hose. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the remote control device is a plug or vane type valve which places the inner tube in communication with the atmosphere. At its other end the inner tube connects with a cylinder, the piston of which operates a rack engaging a pinion connected to a multiple electric switch. The cylinder is fed with compressed air so that operation of the remote control valve can obtain required displacement of the piston with consequent regulation of both fluid flow and reel rotation. In Fig. 3, (not shown), the remote control device has a pinion and lever engaging a Bowden cable which connects to a switching assembly and allows selective operation of fluid flow and reel rewinding.
