Abstract

836,629. Roofing slabs; roofs. BENNETT, J. E. March 7, 1958 [April 25, 1957], No. 13286/57. Classes 20(4) and 87(1) A roofing -slab comprises an insulating board 1 which is dipped in bitumen and covered with a sheet of roofing felt &c. 2 which extends at 2b on to the underface and with a further sheet of roofing felt 3 which extends over the edges at 3a and outwards at 3b to form a welt. The welts of adjacent slabs overlap and the space between the slabs is filled with bitumen. Felt &c. strips coated with bitumen may be provided under the joints. At the edge of a roof, Fig. 3, a gutter eave may be formed by an aluminium member having three flanges 7a, 7b, 7c. Where the roof 8 joins an upstanding wall 9, Fig. 4, a laminated sheet 10 of asbestos and bitumen is provided with a flange 10a to engage under the welt 3b and a flange 10b to form a flashing.
