Abstract

836,519. Vibration dampers. METAL TEXTILE CORPORATION. Sept. 11, 1958, No. 29188/58. Class 108(3) A cushioning element is produced as follows. A length of flattened tubular knit wire mesh fabric 10, Fig. 1, made from springy wire is run through corrugating rolls to produce corrugations 11. The corrugated strip 10 is superposed upon a smooth strip 12 of flattened tubular knit wire mesh fabric of a width corresponding to the ultimate width of the corrugated strip 10. The two strips 10 and 12 are together rolled endwise upon themselves into a cylindrical shape. To prevent the convolutions unwinding, an external coversleeve 13, Fig. 3, is disposed over the cylindrical body. This sleeve 13 is sufficiently long for its end portions 14 to be inturned over the ends of the cylindrical body, the marginal portions 15 being gathered together and pushed into the ends of an internal axial space 16 of the body.
