Abstract

836,409. Flexible couplings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Dec. 31, 1956 [Feb. 23, 1956], No. 5586/56. Class 80 (2). A flexible coupling disc, for attachment to alternate elements of shaft-mounted members, comprises a flexible disc 1 rendered torsionally resistant by an embedded polygonal or discshaped member 4 having means such as bushes 3 for engaging the coupled members. The member 4 is a linear polymer of high molecular weight such as nylon, polyethylene or the polyester " Terylene " (Registered Trade Mark), whilst the disc 1 is of natural or synthetic rubber such as a copolymer of butadiene with styrene or isobutylene or of oil-resistant butadiene-acrylo-nitrile. The ends of the bushes 3 may be received in recesses in the coupled members, or the bushes 3 may be replaced by fingers projecting outside the rubber disc and engaging holes in the coupled members.
