Abstract

PURPOSE: An antioxidant providing a rubber product with extremely improved heat resistance and flexing resistance, maintaining its performance even by long- term use, comprising phenothiazine and a trimethyl-dihydroquinoline polymer.
CONSTITUTION: The desired antioxidant comprising (A) 20W80wt%, preferably 30W70wt% phenothiazine and (B) 80W20wt%, preferably 30W70wt% 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-duhydroquinoline polymer containing preferably ≥25wt% dimer component. For example, 100pts.wt. natural rubber or synthetic rubber such as styrene-butadiene copolymer rubber is blended with 0.5W4pts.wt. antioxidant. If necessary, the antioxidant is blended with an additive such as an N-phenyl-N'- alkyl-p-phenylene diamine, etc. and other antioxidant.
