Abstract

The invention comprises N-(trichloromethyl-sulphenyl) - benzoxazolone - (2) and derivatives thereof substituted in the aromatic ring, e.g. by one or more halogen or nitro groups or aliphatic hydrocarbon groups having 1-6 carbon atoms. These compounds may be prepared by reacting a benzoxazolone-(2) with trichloromethylsulphenyl chloride in the presence of an acid binding agent, e.g. NaOH. They are of use in fungicidal compositions (see Group VI).ALSO:Fungicidal compositions comprise N-(trichloromethylsulphenyl) - benzoxazolone - (2) or derivatives thereof substituted in the aromatic ring, e.g. by halogen or nitro groups or aliphatic hydrocarbon groups having 1-6 carbon atoms, together with a plant-compatible carrier. The compositions may comprise diluents, solvents and wetting agents, and known fungicides, such as N-(trichloromethylsulphenyl) tetrahydrophthalimide, metal ethylenebisdithiocarbamates, copper salts, and sulphur preparations.
