835,647. Spinning glass fibres. MANUFACTURES DES GLACES ET PRODUITS CHIMIQUES DE SAINT-GOBAIN, CHAUNY & CIREY S. A., DES. Jan. 29, 1958 [March 8, 1957], No. 2944/58. Class 56. Apparatus for spinning fibres from molten thermoplastic materials such as glass wherein the peripheral band of a rotating body 1 and/or the side wall of the distributing device 2 is or are formed of two components in contact with one another, the or each outer component 3 and 7 being of a material resistant to the great heat to which it is subject and the or each inner component 4 and 8 being of a material chemically resistant to the molten material. The outer component may be made of nickelchromium steel or a nickel-chromium alloy, and the inner component of platinum, tungsten, molybdenum, or platinum-rhodium orplatinumnickel. Preferably the openings 5 and 9 respectively in the inner components are of a diameter less than those 6 and 10 in the outer components. The openings 6 may be cylindrical or tapering.
