Abstract

835,097. Moulding pellets. BAKELITE Ltd. Nov. 3, 1958 [Nov. 5, 1957], No. 34495/57. Class 87(2). A method of making pellets from a thermoplastic material comprises extruding the material in the form of monofilaments, immediately cooling the surface of the monofilaments by sprays 8 of cooling liquid and cutting the filaments into pellets. The filaments are cut by revolving knives 4 and collected by shield 9 having an outlet 10 leading to a vibratory cooling conveyer. The cooling liquid may be water which may be recycled. Temperatures for various shaped pellets are detailed.
