833,495. Semi-conductor rectifiers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 28, 1957 [May 28, 1956], No. 16484/56. Class 37. A rectifier assembly comprises a number of subassemblies each comprising a rack (not shown) for supporting a plurality of rectifier elements 1, each with inlet and outlet connections 4 and 5, for cooling fluid which are interconnected such that one or more paths, each covering a plurality of elements, for fluid are provided, and whereby any unit may be withdrawn independently of the others. Interconnecting tubes 6 and 7 of insulating material such as polythene or rubber are provided between the inlet and outlet connections, the system forming a continuous path between main input pipe 2 and main outlet pipe 3. The rectifier element consists of a semi-conductor element disposed between opposing electrodes at least one of which consists of a hollow block with inlet and outlet cooling fluid connections, such as for example is described in Specification 787,389. Various other series-parallel arrangements of rectifier assemblies are described. Electrical connectors for the rectifier elements may be mounted on the insulating cooling tubes.
