Abstract
832,985. Filters. MULLER, J. Sept. 21, 1956 [Oct. 11, 1955 ; June 15, 1956], No. 28911/56. Class 46. [Also in Group XXIX] Liquid to be filtered (e.g. for cooling or lubricating) is introduced by a pipe 16 via a porous bag 17 into a trough 7 whence filtrate is withdrawn through a coiled-strip edge filter 6 in position A, tube 5, rotary valve 4 and pipe 8 by a suction pump 2, and delivered via a storage vessel 10 (with pressure-indicator 12) and pipe 14 to a place of use. The rotary valve 4 is driven in a clockwise direction in its casing 4a by the pump-motor 1 through reduction gear 3, and as each one of the four filters reaches the "3 o'clock" position it is backflushed into an auxiliary collector 24 by a proportion of the filtered liquid via pipe 15 and the rotary valve. Each filter becomes immersed in the liquid in the trough before the immediately-preceding filter has left it. Filtrate is being withdrawn during the whole time of immersion.
