Abstract

832,605. Thermocouples. FENWAL Inc. Jan. 27, 1956 [Oct. 17, 1955], No. 12915/59. Divided out of 832,604. Class 40 (1). A temperature sensing apparatus comprises a thermocouple probe 8 having a thermocouple junction 10a from which extend conducting leads 10 terminating in face engageable contact members 14. The leads 10 extend through a tubular shield 9 in which they are supported by an insulating filling 11. This shield 9 is welded in a sleeve 12 which is secured to a baseplate 13. This base-plate has wings (not shown) by which it is bolted to a terminal box 5 (see Specification 832,604). The contact members are carried by the base-plate from which they are insulated by screw washers and have rounded heads which engage with substantially flat heads of similar contacts of the terminal box. The base-plate is covered by a cap 17 which is filled with high temperature cement 17a.
