832,476. Clock-driven indicators. SCHMID, A. Nov. 5, 1958 [Nov. 8, 1957], No. 35513/58. Class 118 (2). [Also in Group XL (c)] A reminding device has a calendar pad provided on each sheet with a space for notes and with at least one time scale and a driving mechanism moving at least one feeler contact which touches the said sheet with correet timing along the scale. When passing an electrically conductive marker line the feeler contact establishes an electric connection on the input of an amplifier whereby a reminder signal is produced in at least one alarm device operatively connected to the amplifier output. In the embodiment described, each sheet 3 of the calendar pad 2 has two time scales, one in each of the longitudinal margins, one of which covers the period six to fourteen hours and the other the period fourteen to twentytwo hours. Parallel to these margins run two belts 6 passing over pulley wheels 7 and 8 and driven by a synchronous motor 11, each of which belts carries contacts 12 and 13. The contacts are biased to lift clear of the pad, but are prevented from so doing whilst passing over the time scale by the crank rails 16. When the two contacts pass over a conductive mark 15 they are connected together and a positive potential is applied from the bridge rectifier 23 via earth to cause the cold cathode valve 25 to strike and operate relay R. Contact r1 completes the circuit for a warning neon 33 and contact r2 allows capacitor 38 to discharge through neon 36 and the electromagnet 37 of the gong 42. After discharging capacitor 38 the neon 36 is extinguished and the capacitor slowly recharges until the potential is again sufficient to strike the neon 36. The beats of the gong are thus repeated until the key 24 is opened. The motor. 11 can alternatively be clockwork and can be associated with a clock face, and the contacts 12 and 13 may be mounted 'on a screw-threaded spindle having both left and right-hand threads. Instead of two contacts, contact 12 may be replaced by a conductive line in the margin across which the marks 15 are made.
