Abstract

831,393. Magnetic recording heads. MOEHRING, W. D., and MURPHY; C. F. Dec. 9, 1957, No. 38180/57. Class 40 (2). In a magnetic record head, a non-magnetic supporting body 1 is made up of two parts 2 each containing a magnetic core piece 6 having end faces co-planar with the opposing faces of the body parts 2, and one adjacent end of each core piece 6 terminating adjacent a side surface 9 of the body transverse to the plane of the said opposing faces. In assembling, the core pieces are secured by adhesive in groove recesses 10A in the body parts 2. Before assembling the two parts 2, the opposing faces of body and core pieces may be ground flat. The coil 11 is then slipped over the end of one of the core pieces, and a magnetic splice bar 13 may be added before the two parts are bolted together, as by a pair of bolts 15.
