In an apparatus for the reproduction of gramophone records, a variable-capacitance type of pick-up modulates the output of an electronic oscillator having a frequency of not less than 50 megacycles per second, and electrical coupling between the pick-up arm and the fixed part of the pivot assembly is a reactive coupling without any mechanical continuous electrical conducting path. Fig. 2 shows an embodiment in which the coupling is inductive, while Fig. 1A illustrates a capacitive coupling. The pivotation of the pick-up arm 11 comprises a low-friction construction in which the arm 11 has a conical recess 14 and is supported thereby on a pivot pin 16. Optional circuits are shown, Figs. 1 and 4, and described for modulating, an oscillator circuit and rectifying for producing the signal output.
