830,641. Calculating-apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. July 4, 1958 [July 5, 1957], No. 21475/58. Addition to 829,470. Class 106 (1). The device for reading and storing the working positions of a movable type carrier described and claimed in the parent Specification, is modified in that means are provided for locking the slides temporarily after the' type carrier positions have been read. As shown, two notches 26, 27 corresponding to the two possible rest positions of the slides 16 are provided in each slide, a locking frame 28 being raised during the printing operation against the action of springs 33 by means of a pivoted lever 34, 35, co-operating with a cam 37, and lowered when the slides 16 have been set in coded representation of the digit printed to re-engage with the notches 26, 27, thereby locking the slides until the next cycle.
