Abstract

829,617. Magnetic recording and reproducing heads. METRO-SOUND MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. Sept. 25, 1958 [Aug. 1, 1958], No. 24874/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (2). A cleansing tape for removing record-tape powder from transducer heads comprises a flexible tape of suitable dimensions for passage in the path normally travelled by the record tape and carries a cleansing agent. The tape may be of a porous material which absorbs the cleansing agent, and may have a non-permeable backing to isolate the cleansing agent from the usual pressure pad associated with the transducer heads. Part of the tape may be untreated with the cleansing agent so as to act as a wiper. The cleaning tape may be used in conjunction with a spool having perforations for the introduction of cleansing liquids.
