Class 120(1) A rotary comb unit for a rectilinear combing machine consists of a semi-cylindrical frame 10 the periphery of which is formed with a number of longitudinal slots 13 pitched equidistantly apart, each slot accommodating a removable comb 14 held in position by a locking member 19 mounted upon and displaceable circumferentially of one end 17 of frame 10, member 19 having teeth 27 equal in number to, and pitched apart by the same distance as, slots 13 so that the teeth are adapted to overlap and abut adjacent ends of the combs. A set screw 22 in member 19 engages a slot in the frame end 17 whereby member 19 can be fixed in a locking position, and can be moved to an unlocking position in which a faulty comb can be removed and replaced. The other ends of combs 14 are retained beneath a stop member 20 held to the frame 10 by one or more screws 21. The ends of each comb are slit at 16 so that the ears 15, 15a which engage beneath teeth 27 and member 20 are given a degree of resilience. Frame 10 is secured to a rotary carrier 12 by screws 11.
