828,080. Coat &c. hangers. BOURNE, A. T. Aug. 28, 1957 [Sept. 11, 1956], No. 25293/56. Class 52(5) A coat &c. hanger has a spring bow 6 pivotably or hingedly attached to the arms 2, 3 and sprung, by finger pressure, from an out-of-use position spaced from the rail 5, to bear on trousers &c. placed on the rail. The bow 6 is formed by a spring steel strip, chromium plated or encased in a resilient sheath, secured to hinge plates 8, the hinge plates 7 being secured to the arms by screws 11. Struts 12 slide in slots 13 to limit the downward movement of the plates 8 and the spring bow is self-adjusting to different thicknesses and does not mark thick garments. In modifications the ends of the bow are seated in notches in the arms or the bow, consisting of spring wires encased in a rubber or plastic cover, is moved to its alternative positions by rubber elements or coil springs.
