[Also in Group XXIII] A rasping cutter for use in a rotary cutter-block comprises one or more blanks 1 of elliptical shape with peripheral teeth or serrations 2 and means for locating the cutter or cutters within the block whereby when the teeth of one convex edge are worn the cutter may be repositioned to expose the other convex toothed edge, the curved peripheries of the blank corresponding to the curvature of the perimeter of the block. Blanks of the form shown in Fig. 6 with locating holes 4 are inserted over studs 8, Fig. 8, carried by cheeks 6, 7 and clamped to form a cutter-block, the blanks being arranged as shown in Fig. 7. Distance-pieces 9 may act as spacers between the cutting elements or spacing elements may be formed integrally with the cutters by pressing, welding or otherwise forming projections on them. The set or wavy edge teeth of the cutters may take various forms and they may be tipped with tungsten-carbide or other suitable metal or alloy. The cutter may be used for rasping tyres, timber, &c. The second Provisional Specification describes the teeth as being formed on segmental blanks or blanks suitable for rectilinear use.
