Abstract

826,975. Assemblies of components; twopart couplings. EGEN ELECTRIC Ltd., and BOWMAN, A. Oct. 21, 1957 [July 21, 1956], No. 22644/56. Classes 37 and 38 (1). In an aerial isolator a capacitor is connected in series with each lead of a coaxial cable, the capacitors and a resistor, connected across the cable, being located on opposite sides of an insulating plate housed in a coaxial socket. As shown, the coaxial socket comprises a split inner connector L located within an outer connector A by three insulating discs M, J, D secured together by burring the part N of the inner connector against a metal washer O. The outer connector A is attached by means of two flanged parts B, C spot welded together. A resistive carbon coating of value 0.5 to 1 megohm is deposited on the right-hand side of either disc J or disc D, since disc J may be omitted. The inner silver coating of the ceramic capacitor H extends over the right-hand end and is soldered to the end of part C. The outer coating is soldered to tabs W on a tapered ferrule U the smaller end of which fits between the screen and the dielectric of a coaxial cable. A sleeve X may be crimped over the screen. The inner coating of the inner capacitor E is soldered to the inner end of connector L, the outer coating being provided with a pigtail T for connection to the coaxial inner conductor. The assembly is intended for mounting on an insulating panel of a television receiver, a 1 to 3 megohm leak being provided from the outside of the chassis. Alternatively discs J, D may be replaced by a rectangular insulating plate clamped between parts B, C and coated with resistive material to provide both leakage paths.
