Abstract
Moulded articles, such as bottles and films, are made from polyethylene produced by a method described in Specifications 799,392, 799,823 and 810,023 and in which has been incorporated 0.02 to 3% of basic lead phthalate or a Group IIa, IIb or IVb metal salt of a C8 to C24 fatty acid. Metal salts specified are calcium stearate, oleate and ricinoleate; barium ricinoleate and laurate; cadmium stearate, ethyl hexoate and laurate; strontium and tin laurates; lead stearate; and dibutyl tin laurate; and optional additives are dyestuffs, pigments, fillers, stabilizers, plasticizers and compatible plastics. If desired, the metal salts may be added, e.g. in solution or suspension, during the manufacture or working up of the polymer. Specification 801,031 also is referred to.
