Abstract

826,684. Earth-moving apparatus. EVERSMAN MFG. CO. Oct. 11, 1956 [Feb.13, 1956], No. 31046/56 Class 68(1) A land leveller of the type having a long articulated chassis 10, 11, 12 has mounted on the middle section a dependant frame 32, 33, 34 carrying a scraper blade 41 and gauge wheels 40 which follow the contour of the ground and control through a lever system 38, 36, 59, 58, 57, 65 the setting of the blade 41 according to ground level variations. Means are also provided that on articulation of the sections 11, 12 of the chassis press the gauge wheels 40 against the ground to an amount in proportion to the angle between the sections to cause upward movement of the blade to counterbalance downward movement due to the articulation of the sections. The means comprise an arm 73 mounted for rotation about and in a plane at right angles to the axis 24 of articulation of the sections 11, 12, a clamp 75 receiving the upturned end of the arm 73, a spring 71, and a chain 68 that passes over an arm 70 pivotally mounted at 70 on a frame member 34 to be connected at 69 to an arm 67 rigid with the shaft 36 on which the wheels 40 are mounted by arms 38 secured to the shaft.
