Abstract

825,641. Jointing by stamping. BRITISH ROPES Ltd. July 3, 1957 [May 10, 1956], No. 14550/56. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XXV] A ferrule for forming eye-loops on wire ropes has a zone of reduced wall thickness, as at 13, Fig. 1, adapted to form a cavity, as 13a, Fig. 3, surrounding strand ends when the ferrule is pressed on a rope. A two or fourpart die is employed to press the ferrule. Each die has a working face 23, Fig. 7, that bends out at 24 to form ribs on the ferrule and slots 26 are arranged to accommodate a stabilizing bar. Spring guide rods may also be inserted in apertures 28.
