824,135. Delivering measured quantities of powdered material. BARTLETT, C. L. May 14, 1958 [Feb. 15, 1957; March 15, 1957], Nos. 5160/57 and 8546/57. Class 106(5) A dispensing apparatus for delivering measured quantities of loose substances comprises a container 4 having a base 5 apertured or flanged to form pockets 6 of a total volume equal to the volume to be dispensed, apertured plates 10, 11, being arranged above and below the base and secured together by bolts 12 and jointly movable by a lever 7, the apertures 13, 14 in the plates being so located that those in the upper plate register with, the pockets in the base 5 when those of the lower plate are out of register but when the lever is moved to the dispensing position the apertures of the lower plate are brought into register with the pockets, the blank portion of the upper plate having meanwhile moved into position between the container and the base. To prevent jamming, a clearance is provided between the base and the inner plate to accommodate a layer of the loose substance. Several containers may be mounted on a single bracket 21. The second Provisional Specification describes a movable plate having spaced holes sandwiched between a fixed plate and the base of the container and also having an additional plate inside the container for stirring the loose substances. For distribution of only part of the total volume of the measuring chamber, an adjustable stop or index notches may be provided or the bottom plate may have only one hole.
