Abstract

823,885. Cable reels. FORGE CRAFT Ltd. May 19, 1958 [May 17, 1957], No. 15774/57. Class 99(2). A cable drum 1 has an axle 8 on which one or more casings 16, 17 for receiving a cable termination are mounted to be rotatable about the axle and lockable in relation thereto so as to take up cable slack and to protect the termination. The axially split and hinged casings 16, 17 which may be locked by snaplocks 18, are mounted on U-shaped brackets 12, 13 which have extended handles 14, 15 and can be clamped on the axle by wingnuts 19, 20. The brackets 12, 13 are positioned between stepped portions of the axle and collars 10, 11. Rims 1 and 2 are broken at 21, 22 to allow passage of the cable therethrough and subsidiary hoops 23 may divide off convolutions of the cable.
